Magnetite Skarn
Historic Resource of 1.5 million tons of contained concentrate.
The iron formation has been known since the early 1900s with two pits
sunk in 1913. These pits were sunk on
what is now known as A Zone. From this
point, no work was recorded until Biron Bay Gold Mines acquired the claims in
the early 1970’s. They performed
magnetic surveys and diamond drilling from 1971 through 1974. They
reported a non-43-101 compliant resource estimate of C Zone to contain 1.5 million tons of contained concentrate; however, the drilling shows the zone is
still open to depth.
From the little reported work on the property, the drill logs indicate the existence of the magnetite skarn. Even though chalcopyrite and marmatite (sphalerite) are mentioned in the drill logs, only iron and titanium were ever assayed.
No other historic work can be found on this property.
CJP has performed two prospecting campaigns on the property. With help from the LiDAR, one of the pits was located, which then allowed for a sample of the magnetite to be taken. This sample has not yet been assayed.
